If it is true that I am a combination of the five people that I spend the most time with then I am a combination of my three good friends, my parents (I’m counting them as one), and my boyfriend.
When I think about it, there are a lot of things that I get from these five (or six) people and a lot that I learn from them. A lot of the phrases we say are the same and a lot of our physical habits or quirks are the same.
I get a lot of my habits from the people I’m around a lot too. For example, I never ever bite my finger nails, but when I am with my boyfriend (who bites his nails) I find myself sometimes biting my nails.
It is really interesting to think about how easily we can be influenced when we aren’t thinking about it. I know that the amount that I curse or not depends on the people I am around and if they curse or not. It’s not that I do it to fit in or that I make a conscious decision to do it when I am with people who do. It honestly just happens without me really thinking about it.
A lot of my personality and even the way I think depends on the people I am with. Obviously, I still have the individual qualities that make me who I am and my own values and thoughts and beliefs, but when I really stop and think about it, I am very influenced by who I am around.
This can be a good things and can be a bad thing. I get a lot of good things from my parents, my three good friends, and my boyfriend, but I also know that there are some negative things that I get from them that I could do without.
