My blog is in response to an article I read at
In summary, a blogger was brutally murdered after posting critical comments about Islam.
I do not think that this was just. I understand that there are strict rules and that he should have been more careful about what he said online. However, I do not think brutally murdering him was a just punishment. They did not even let him die with dignity.
I do not think that killing is a just punishment for any crime. As the old saying says, “Two wrongs don’t make a right.” Killing someone is never right. We have no right to say who deserves to live and who doesn’t. Just because someone does something wrong, does not mean that we have the right to do something equally wrong back to them.
Getting a little off topic here, but for example: if someone murdered (insert whatever number here) people and was sentenced to death, what is that really teaching us? How is killing someone teaching us that killing people is wrong? I will never understand that in any kind of society in any type of situation.
It comes down to this: doing something wrong is not going to fix what has already been done wrong. Two wrongs never make a right.
